Chabashira…! (A Little Sign of Luck)

In Japan, when a chabashira (a tea stalk) stands upright in your cup of green tea, we feel a little thrill—a small sign that something good might happen. It often falls over while being carried, so we try to move gently… or call out, “Look!” to show our family before it topples over.
👋 By the way, The White Dog is beckoning with a Japanese-style gesture—palm down, as if gently saying “Come here.” In Western countries, this gesture can sometimes be misinterpreted as “Shoo!”—but in Japan, it’s a welcoming sign. ☺️
